In suburbia we find that imperial self-determinism that drove our Westward Expansion imprinted on the minds of individuals with regards to their physical environment. We might say that, even in imperialism, we regarded all that about us as simple physical environment. This would suggest that Hegel’s master-slave dialectic is far from reaching synthesis. What began as one Master above many Slaves (a king among men) moved outward until the mindset has become each man above each other man.
