“The Model T was first introduced in 1908 and remained in production until 1927. The use of assembly line techniques and few variations...meant that the price...kept dropping during the two decades of its production. By the mid 1920s, a new basic Model T, which when introduced, had coast $950, could be bought for under $300, while used models sold for as little as $50. (This promoted a social revolution as well, for it meant that young people with autos could easily escape the chaperonage of adults.)” (43) Consider: at first, all cars were the same. Also of importance is the suggested connection between the car and youth culture from the beginning. This connection lasts into the 50s and all the way to today.
